NYRV Rental Network
How does this program really work?
Our program is designed to allow RV owners to earn added income from their motor home or travel trailer while still being able to use it for thier own camping purposes. Our program is perfect for the RV owner that doesn't use their RV enough to justify owning it or who could use additional income. Depending on the unit, you can make as much as $10,000 - $25,000 per year off the rental of your unit. You supply the RV and we do all the rest. We secure the renters and use a stringent screening process. We maintain the unit while in our possession, collect the rental fees and damage deposits, and send our owners an itemized statement and check once a month. If you're interested in learning more about our program, contact us today.
How much money can my RV make?
The amount of income your RV generates from private rentals depends on many factors including, but not limited to, the size, floorplan, number of beds, year model, RV model, condition, etc.. Owners can make as much as $25,000.00 per year off the rental of their RV. We make no guarantee as to how much profit our owners will make, but remember this.. We dont make any money unless your making money.. So it is in our best interest to keep your RV rented as often as possible!
What about damage to my RV?
Hands down, this is the single biggest concern of our RV owners. Again, it is in our best interest to keep your RV in good condition. The better condition the RV is in, the more money we both make. It is for this reason that we pre-screen every potential renter extensively. In addition to basic drivers license, residence, and employment checks, NYRV also conducts credit checks, insurance verifications, and on occasion detailed background checks. (For longer more expensive rentals) For added security, we require all renters to place a deposit with us prior to the rental to cover any damages too small for an insurance claim. (We always take enough security to cover any deductible required by the insurance company). In addition to the renters insurance (the insurance on the renters tow vehicle (always verified) covers the RV for liability), NYRV requires additional commercial renters insurance which is purchased on a month to month basis under NYRV's master policy. This added protection is mandatory as it provides property damage coverage for your unit. The added commercial insurance is billed monthly, and the cost will be split 50% - 50% between the owner and NYRV. In summary, the RV is fully covered for any damages incurred during the rental period.
Quick example for explanation purposes only:
John Smith rents your 2002 25' Prowler to take his family on a vacation for the weekend. While driving east in the "Hamptons" traffic, he inadvertantly side swipes the BMW driving next to him. While John Smiths personal insurance (on the tow vehicle) will cover the damage to Mr. BMW's car, the damage to the trailer would be covered by NYRV's master policy through MBA Commercial Insurance for up to the full declared value of the RV. An example of the present cost for this coverage is as follows:
2002 25' Prowler with an estimated value of $9900 would be a monthly premium of $55.00 split equally between the owner and NYRV. Your cost = $27.50 per month. The deductible is $250, which is half of the security deposit we require for all rentals.
Are the renters instructed on the proper use of our RV?
The answer is YES. Before any new renter is allowed to leave with a unit, our staff will conduct a safety and use walk through. (Approximately 30 - 45 minutes) During this procedure, our staff will cover the proper way to tow (or drive) the unit. We will demonstrate levelling and setup procedures. We will also cover the proper use of all ammenities in the RV at this time. (This also allows us to re-check that all items are in working order.) We have also found it beneficial to show renters the proper way to pack and secure the unit for travel to thier destination. Lastly, we clearly explain the procedures to be followed for emergency situations, and provide all contacts for these situations. When a renter leaves with your RV, they will be proficient in its use.
Can we still use our RV whenever we want to?
Again, the answer is YES. Upon entering your RV into our network, we will take an initial availibility report to tell us when you want your unit to be made available for rent. We update this information automatically every 3 months or so. At any time you want to use your RV, all we would need is a contact with the dates you want to use it, and it will not be rented for the period you specify. If for some reason your RV is booked for that time frame, we will make every effort to switch units to another one available for that time.
What about maintenance?
Maintenance is the lifeblood of our business. Before each unit leaves for a rental, all fluids are checked, safety features inspected, tire pressures checked, with all faults being fixed before release. NYRV will make basic inexpensive repairs to the units while preparing it for delivery. These items include such things as fluids being added, light bulbs changed, fuses, etc. Larger maintenance items such as tires, brakes, batteries, etc., are the sole responsibility of the owner. NYRV will not rent any RV we do not deem to be in a safe and working order, and therefore require all repairs made before renting a unit needing service. At the owners request, we will provide these additional services, and recover the fees for those services from the rental income.
Are renters allowed to smoke in our vehicles?
NO, renters are not allowed to smoke in the units. Upon the signing of the rental agreement, all renters are required to initial a very specific smoking clause. If on return the unit is found to have odors from smoking inside, the renter will loose the full deposit retained by NYRV for the fumigation and deoderizing of the RV. For the peace of mind of our owners, and future renters, there is NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.
What if our RV does not rent?
Lucky for you, this is rarely the case. Most units will rent. There is a renter for every type of RV. Our smaller pop-up trailers seem to be very popular local and weekend rentals. The larger travel trailer designs seem to go for semi-local weekly rentals for the most part. Fifth Wheels and very large trailers are popular with the longer trips and weekly+ rentals, as well as the "family coming into town and need more room" crowd. Our motor homes of course are the preferred long distance travelers, and sometimes can rent for as long as two months at a time. (Must be approved by the owner and NYRV) We are confident that your unit will rent.
How and when do we get paid?
All our owners are paid once monthly. On or about the 15th of each month we will issue each owner a check for all rentals closed out the prior month. With those checks, NYRV will include a complete breakdown of rental charges billed, NYRV fees earned and deducted, insurance premiums paid, any repair charges, and any additional info necessary. Its as easy as that!
How do we get started?
All that is necessary to include your RV in our rental fleet is to fill out the information sheet found on the "Add Your Unit To Our Fleet" page. We will then contact you for an appointment to come by and take photos of the unit, complete a more detailed description form, have a rental agreement signed, and get a copy of the title or registration of the unit (B&W is fine with COPY written across the middle....needed by the insurance companies), and thats it. If you would like to add your unit to our website immediately, submit the "Add Your Unit To Our Fleet" form, and send us 3 digital pictures of your unit suitable for advertising on our website. Your unit will be added within 24 hours and available in our reservation system. NYRV will then mail a complete new owner pack to be filled out, signed, and returned with a copy of the owners drivers license and registration / title. Although units will be entered on our website, and available to be reserved, no RV will be delivered to a renter until all forms / information is received.
